Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

We hoped that this program would introduce patrons to a new type of music,a new instrument, and/or a new art form. We also hoped that it would increase our patrons' interest in Swedish music or culture. Many residents of our region are Swedish/ Norwegian/ Scandinavian, so we thought this might teach them something new about their personal history, as well as the history of this part of Minnesota. This piece focused on accepting differences, and being welcoming and tolerant of new people and new ideas. We hoped that these themes would come through. We always distribute evaluation forms after each program, and collect public comments.

Measurable Outcome(s)

97% of respondents said that this program exposed them to a new culture, a new form of art, music or instrument. 87% said that they enjoyed the program because it allowed them to increase their knowledge on a topic. 97% agreed that this program increased their interest in music, performance art, and/or Swedish culture. 100% said that they would attend a similar program in the future. Public comments included: 'Loved it! Students learned a lot- able to have great discussions after- it raised their curiosity! They wanted to learn more- that's huge!' and 'The students loved it. The performance was educational and entertaining' and 'I loved it- wish it was longer. I especially enjoyed learning the new words and hearing them talk in Swedish.'
