Dr. Anton Treuer
We had Minnesotan author Dr. Anton Treuer do two programs for us in Roseau and Warroad. He spoke about a variety of topics using his book 'Everything You Wanted to Know about Indians but Were Afraid to Ask' as a platform.

Dr. Treuer's program is a great one to spark discussion and questions. We expect that his program will increase the understanding of current and historical issues faced by Native Americans. We expect a greater understanding of local Ojibwe culture and history.
84% of respondents said that this program increased their understanding of Native American history and culture. 89% said that this program helped them to gain knowledge and better understand this topic. 66% claimed that this program increased their interest in Ojibwe culture. One student commented, 'Do more programs about other cultures, especially a culture we might misunderstand and/or have a bias against.' Another said, 'I thought it was interesting because I've never really talked to a Native before,' and another, 'I would enjoy learning about more perspectives.'
In Warroad, the FOL provided cookies and coffee; the Warroad High School and Roseau High Schools both offered their theaters as the program space.
