Paul Wilson and Mary Abendroth: Folk Music of Scandinavia
Paul Wilson and Mary Abendroth are Scandinavian folk musicians from Minnesota who have traveled the world celebrating and exploring the folk arts and culture of their fore-bearers. Paul sings and plays the accordion, fiddle, guitar and pump organ. Mary sings and plays pump organ and guitar. The two present songs in Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, English and 'Swinglish' and provide translations and historical context for their songs.

We distributed evaluation cards to members of the audience following the conclusion of the program. We hoped that this program would help patrons celebrate the local Scandinavian culture. We also hoped that this program would increase patrons' interest in music, singing and/or performance art.
100% of respondents said that this program helped them to celebrate Midsummer, and the local Scandinavian culture. 100% of respondents said that they enjoyed this program because it helped them spend quality time with family or friends. 85% said that this program increased their interest in music, singing and/or performance art. Public comments included, 'the stories are great- good job,' and, 'love these programs!'
Sons of Norway provided food for the event. The City of Roseau invited us to be a part of their summer concert series, so the event was coordinated with them. The program took place outside, at the public gazebo.
