Heidi Hughes: Winter Birds of Pennington and Marshall County
Heidi Hughes did a few programs in Warren and Thief River Falls, some at the library and others with school classes. She is a local author who loves helping people learn about their local history regarding wildlife. She also strongly advocates for all of the resources available at the library to help with such research.
We hoped that after this interactive program students/patrons would have learned something new about the history of their county's bird populations. We also thought that it would increase participants' interest in Minnesota's native bird populations. We distributed evaluations after the program.
89% of respondents said that after watching this program they have learned something new about their county's bird populations. 75% said that they enjoyed this program because it helped them increase their knowledge or better understand this topic. 71% said that this program increased their interest in Minnesota's native bird populations. Comments included, 'she does a great job at encouraging people to use the library to find information' and 'time was well spent.'
The Godel Memorial Library Board donated supplies for kits given to students.
