Prairie Fire Theater Company presents: Tom Sawyer
Prairie Fire Theater Company (PFTC) is a professional touring theater company that brings a theatrical experience to communities across the upper Midwest. When they visited Greenbush, two professional actors/directors came to the community for a one week residency. Local children fill the roles, and PFTC provides everything needed to do the show. After a week of rehearsing, the cast will perform the play twice.
We distributed evaluation forms after each program. We hoped that this program, offered in a place where there isn't much access to theater, would introduce kids to a new art form, and help them connect with their community. We also hoped that it would increase all patrons' interest in theater and/or performance art.
As always, this program was a huge success. Prairie Fire has been visiting Greenbush for many years now, and every year it is very popular. The whole community came together to put on this production, and dozens of kids participated. For many, it was their first time participating in a play, and the directors made sure that every child that wanted to, had a speaking part. Greenbush raves about this production, and they will surely be back next year.
