Project Overview

Robin Anders' career as a percussionist, composer, multi-instrumentalist, educator, performer, sound engineer and producer has spanned 50 years. During this special program, Robin brought drums and various other percussion instruments into the library from all over the world, and did performances representing five continents. In addition to demonstrations, Robin also passed out drums to audience members, and led them in a drum circle.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

After this program, we hoped that patrons would have increased their understanding and appreciation of, and interest in, percussion instruments and music. We hoped that they would be exposed to new styles of music, and new cultures, and gain a new perspective after hearing about Robin's travels. We always distribute an evaluation form for patrons to fill out after the program, and we also always collect public comments.

Measurable Outcome(s)

100% of respondents said that after this program they had increased their understanding and appreciation of percussion instruments and music. 88% said that they enjoyed the program because it helped them to increase their knowledge of and to better understand a topic. 88% said that this program increased their interest in percussion. 100% said that they would come to a similar program in the future. Public comments included, "our family loved listening to Robin play the different kinds of drums, and he held our three kids' attention well" and, "I loved the opportunity for participation."

Source of Additional Funds

In Warroad, the Friends of the Library provided treats, and in Hallock, volunteers oversaw the program, and the city let us use the hall free of charge.
