KRPR - R Town Radio Series
In partnership with KSMQ-TV, KRPR will produce and broadcast a series of compelling and engaging 2-minute short stories, produced for radio, describing the various features, people, events, and activities of Rochester, MN, thereby enhancing community awareness and increasing participation in the resources, culture, and artistic events in the area.
$4,150,000 the first year and $3,900,000 the second year are to the Minnesota Public Television Association for production and acquisition grants according to Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.18. Of this amount, $650,000 the first year is for a grant to Twin Cities Public Television to produce the Vietnam: Minnesota Remembers project. Any production costs associated with this project incurred on or after February 1, 2017, are eligible for reimbursement under this section as long as these funds are available under subdivision 2.
Listeners in the KRPR region will have increased their knowledge of local current events, art, history, and culture experiences available in Rochester, Minnesota through listening to theses radio vignettes . Subjects of the program will feel more appreciated for their contribution to the community in their various discipline (public affiars, arts, history, or culture) of the region and will feel encouraged to continue their work in this area. More Minnesota artists and musiciants will have their work showcased through public broadcasting giving the artists significantly broader exposure. There will be an increase in locally focused content produced by public radio.
