KKWE - Wawadising: The Visiting Place
This radio show vividly brings to life, the epic stories of people and the landscape of the Anishinaabeg Aking. Some of the topics include visiting local communities and hearing the voices of both elders and youth. People interviewed will be of diverse backgrounds and of diverse skills. KKWE will broadcast traditional as well as contemporary artists.
KKWE produced twenty Mawadising: The Visiting Place sessions during the 2019-2019 grant period.
$1,470,000 the first year and $1,666,000 the second year are to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.19.
This program will support the people's trust in Minnesota's stewardship of public arts, culture and history funding. Arts, culture and history will thrive in Minnesota. There will be an increase in locally focused content produced by public television and radio, and increase the number of local artists, historians, writers and others that have their work showcased through public broadcasting.
