KMOJ - Rush It: People's Choice
KMOJ's audience will have the opportuinty to vote for their favorite selections through polling on KMOJ's Sky Radio App currently under development. Sky Radio is the name we've given the Urban Alternative Format and the app itself. Rush It is the name of the program designed to feature recording artists. The app features opportunities for the artists to market and sell their music online with KMOJ with the artists receiving 100% of the proceeds for a predetermined amount of time.
$4,150,000 the first year and $3,900,000 the second year are to the Minnesota Public Television Association for production and acquisition grants according to Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.18. Of this amount, $650,000 the first year is for a grant to Twin Cities Public Television to produce the Vietnam: Minnesota Remembers project. Any production costs associated with this project incurred on or after February 1, 2017, are eligible for reimbursement under this section as long as these funds are available under subdivision 2.
*There will be an increase in locally focused content produced by public radio
*An increase in the number of local artists and musicans that have their work showcased through public broadcasting
*Musicians will gain access to a much broader audience they would not otherwise be able to reach with some of them making it into KMOJ's overall playlist/rotation
*The project will directly engage members of the community in artistic/musical decisions
*More musicians will be able to report that they are earning more from their music
