KAXE - Music and Words in your Community
Two live, traveling, free music and spoken word (storytelling, poets, and essayists) events that highlight local musicians, writers, and storytellers, and support the local music scene. The music event will feature two bands; the spoken word event will feature 6-8 performers. Produce a 1-hour radio program synthesizing music and interviews from the events
$1,470,000 the first year and $1,666,000 the second year are to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.19.
1) Annual survey: A majority of survey respondents who have attended one or more of the events or listened to the radio special will affirm that their knowledge and access to Minnesota music and Minnesota writers have been increased through this series. A majority of these respondents will also affirm that they believe the series helps support the local music scene and local writers and storytellers.
2) Estimated broadcast audience: This radio market is not measured with statistical accuracy. The program will continue to attract a strong audience as determined by fundraising response, feedback from listeners, and placement in the broadcast schedule
3) Musician, writer, audience, and listener feedback: We will collect and share all feedback from those who participate in or are affected by this project. If the project is successful, musicians, writers and storytellers will feel that their participation has increased their exposure, thereby increasing their ability to generate revenue through their artistry
4) Fiscal audit: The organization will assure fiscal responsibility through a clean audit that fairly represents the finances of Northern Community Radio
