Project Overview

The programs share ancestors' traditional knowledge of medical plants locally grown in North Central MN. In each of the 10-minute programs, host Shontel Michaud of the Bear Clan, explores many topics including herbal preparations, health remedies, gardening herbs, gathering native Minnesota plants, all from the perspective of traditional Native American culture. Additionally, this project also offers Non-Native Americans the opprotunity to learn and incorporate some aspects of Ojibwe culture into their lives and community life.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The Sea Grant Files goal is to raise awareness of the science that is behind many important ways of life in the land of 10,000 lakes. The program also connects listeners with opportunities to learn more about water in MN. Reach and success will be measured by audio archive access numbers, carriage reports, website page views and broadcast listener estimates.
