WTIP - Live at WTIP Video Equipment
The addition of in-studio cameras will allow listeners to take a new look at the multiple live music sessions that happen on WTIP, and create video as well as audio segments. Future sessions would be filmed, mixed and performed in Studio A at the WTIP building, while audio is simultaneously being broadcast as part of WTIP's Legacy-funded Friday evening live music programming, Scenic Route and Roadhouse. Equipment is needed in preparation for the Live @ WTIP audio recording series, proposed for FYE20-21. Project work also includes the creation of a Legacy web page specifically for video work, engineer contract hours for installation, and videographer contract work for installation and other preparatory work.
$1,470,000 the first year and $1,666,000 the second year are to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.19.
It would visually capture performances by local artists, some of who would have little to no other exposure, and capture moments that would be otherwise be unavailable as singular radio/audio performances. These videos will be shared over the internet and on Youtube for anyone to discover. The intention is to make this a regular, year round feature available on social media and WTIP website, eventually incorporating live streams along with the WTIP programs. Project greatly increases focus on Minnesota artists and performances and expands how WTIP showcases the work of local and regional musicians, by incorporating video and audio platforms to share the work of MN artists.
