Project Overview

The 2014 One Book One Community program focused on The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway. Events were held at multiple locations in Duluth, Cloquet and Virginia and ranged from concerts, book discussions, theater productions, photo exhibits, children's activities, political and personal historical discussions and of course book talks.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The intended outcome is to inspire attendees to read, express themselves creatively, and learn the historical significance and culture of a country that many Minnesotans have a connection to.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Community events were well attended in each community with 62 people attending the theatrical production, 203 attending the three musical performances, 49 attending the historical presentation and 539 visiting the photo exhibit.

The One Book One Community committee received funds from numerous sources to support this event including the Arrowhead Reading Council, Cloquet Shaw Memorial Library Foundation, Duluth Library Foundation, Friends of the Duluth Public Library, Virginia Friends of the Library, Fitgers Inn, local book stores and other organizations.
