Project Overview
Sponsored by the Hibbing Community College Concert Series and the Hibbing Foundation, Rhythmic Circus performs in Hibbing at the beginning their third national tour of FEET DON’T FAIL ME NOW! This dynamic tap and music performance mixes high-energy percussive dance with a live rock band and human beatbox that guarantees to enthrall audiences of all ages with its medley of positivity and infectious rhythm. It is a wildly creative take on tap dance and music that will inspire the audience to follow their dreams! Three guys and a gal combine rapid-fire tap-dancing talent with the funky styling and original lyrics of a seven-piece band with a big, brass sound. Add to the mix the vocal percussionist Aaron “Heatbox” Heaton, the human beatbox, and it’s easy to see why this show earned a 2012 Edinburgh Festival Fringe Spirit of the Fringe Award! This show is for anyone who has ever danced, sung a song or taken a leap of faith. The show is appropriate for children ages 5 to 85 years old.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The intended outcome of the event tickets program is to create access to professional art (music and theatre) by providing free tickets to a live performance. Live art is dynamic; patrons can experience and be inspired by the energy that comes from a live performance. When patrons pick up free event tickets at the library they fill out a short survey answering questions about how many Legacy events they have attended, who they are attending with, how they heard about the tickets, if they could attend without these tickets and if they knew that Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund paid for these tickets. Only one survey is filled out regardless of how many tickets are picked up at the library.

Measurable Outcome(s)

184 tickets were used for a 62% return rate. Our surveys indicated 21 of the patron groups that attended had never attended a Legacy funded event or had only attended one other event. 23 groups also indicated they would probably not be able to attend if these tickets were not available.

Source of Additional Funds

The Northern Lakes County Arts Board agreed to a 20% reduction in ticket price for reimbursement of tickets. This savings allows us to participate in more ticketed programs and issue more tickets to live performances. 13 libraries distributed tickets and 8 regional newspapers provided marketing through press releases, photos and interviews with artists and performers.
