Free event tickets to Romeo and Juliet at the Myles Reif Center in Grand Rapids were distributed at 16 libraries. Set traditionally in an Elizabethan marketplace and wholly embracing Shakespeare’s vibrant language, the energy, talent and dedication of Classical Theatre Project captures the youthful passion and ultimate tragedy of Shakespeare’s timeless story.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The intended outcome of the event tickets program is to create access to professional art (music and theatre) by providing free tickets to a live performance. Live art is dynamic; patrons can experience and be inspired by the energy that comes from a live performance.

Tickets for this program were still on the old system asking patrons to fill out an online form after the event.

101 tickets were used for a 34% return rate. 16 libraries distributed tickets in 4 counties.

Source of Additional Funds

The Reif Center agreed to a 20% reduction in ticket price for reimbursement of tickets. This savings allows us to participate in more ticketed programs and issue more tickets to live performances.
The following public libraries distributed tickets and provided additional promotion for the program: Aurora, Babbitt, Calumet, Cloquet, Coleraine, Duluth, Eveleth, Gilbert, Grand Marais, Grand Rapids, Hibbing, Keewatin, Marble, Moose Lake, Mt Iron, and Virginia and approximately 10 regional newspapers.
