Northern Gael - Irish and Scottish Music, Song, Dance and Poetry
The intended outcome of the arts program is to allow patrons to enjoy original music and high-caliber performances while learning about other cultures. Encouraging them to reflect on the relation of their own upbringing to this music and exposing them to new forms of music, dance and library experiences. A survey was distributed to receive feedback from those attending the programs.
Surveys were distributed to participants at all programs. 87% strongly agreed that this was an enjoyable experience and 81% strongly agreed that they would attend a similar event. Comments: I heard instruments that I have never seen or heard before. The blend of music, dance, song, audience involvement and history was fascinating. I loved that they explained the instruments and the regions they came from and all the different types of dance.
11 libraries provided space (two partnered with schools), staff, and additional promotion for the programs and approximately 12 regional newspapers provided marketing through press releases, photos and interviews with artists and performers.
