Project Overview

Free event tickets were distributed at three libraries in three counties for the live musical performance by Derek Bromme at the Weber Music Hall at UMD. Derek is a graduate of UMD and currently works in the music department as an adjunct trombone instructor. He attended Indiana University after leaving Duluth, and obtained his Masters degree in trombone performance, under the instruction of Peter Ellefson. Along with his teaching responsibilities at the University, he also performs often with the DSSO and travels/records as the solo trombonist for Lorie Line.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The intended outcome of the event tickets program is to create access to professional art (music and theatre) by providing free tickets to a live performance. Live art is dynamic; patrons can experience and be inspired by the energy that comes from a live performance.

Tickets for this program were still on the old system asking patrons to fill out an online form after the event.

Measurable Outcome(s)

17 tickets were used for a 17% return rate. The Duluth Public Libraries distributed tickets in St. Louis county.

Source of Additional Funds

The Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra agreed to a 20% reduction in ticket price for reimbursement of tickets. This savings allows us to participate in more ticketed programs and issue more tickets to live performances. The Duluth public libraries distributed tickets and provided additional promotion for the program and approximately 3 regional newspapers
