Project Overview
Free event tickets were distributed at 14 libraries in five counties for the live musical performance by the Minnesota Ballet at the DECC Symphony Hall. The UMD Department of Music is proud of our partnership with the fine dancers, choreographers, designers and directors of the Minnesota Ballet, and we are happy to help ensure that Tchaikovsky’s wonderful, timeless work will be offered to Duluth audiences and families with the live orchestra to which they have grown accustomed.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The intended outcome of the event tickets program is to create access to professional art (music and theatre) by providing free tickets to a live performance. Live art is dynamic; patrons can experience and be inspired by the energy that comes from a live performance.

Tickets for this program were still on the old system asking patrons to fill out an online form after the event.

Measurable Outcome(s)

218 tickets were used for a 73% return rate. 14 libraries (Aurora, Babbitt, Calumet, Cloquet, Duluth, Eveleth, Gilbert, Grand Marais, Hibbing, Hoyt Lakes, Moose Lake, Silver Bay, Two Harbors, and Virginia) distributed tickets in five counties.

Source of Additional Funds

The Minnesota Ballet agreed to a 20% reduction in ticket price for reimbursement of tickets. This savings allows us to participate in more ticketed programs and issue more tickets to live performances.
The following public libraries distributed tickets and provided additional promotion for the program: Aurora, Babbitt, Calumet, Cloquet, Duluth, Eveleth, Gilbert, Grand Marais, Hibbing, Hoyt Lakes, Moose Lake, Silver Bay, Two Harbors, and Virginia and approximately 16 regional newspapers.
