Project Overview

MN artist Mike Wohnoutka gave a 40-minute presentation on his illustrations, personal experiences & stories on his inspirations, being an artist and the joys and challenges in creating illustrations for stories.

Project Details

Forty-two (42) patrons attended the program, twenty-one (21) were children and twenty-one (21) were adults.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The children learned how the author creates and illustrates characters for books. Children also learned that they can succeed at what they do if they keep working at it. Adults learned how they could submit their own drawings to publishers.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Twenty-one (21) children verbally responded to before and after survey questions. Ten (10) children indicated they have been to a program at the library previously, eleven (11) indicated this was a new experience. Six (6) children indicated they have previously seen an illustrator; twelve (12) children desired to learn more about drawing after seeing the program.
