Bus trip to and tour of Historic Fort Snelling to learn the history of this once furthest outpost of the U.S. Military. Participants will gain an understanding of the lives of the people who lived in and around the fort, specifically during the Civil War

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Attendees will discover the important role this military outposed played in Minnesota history; gain an appreciation of the perspectives of the different occupants; develop an awareness of the library books and other resources offered to expand upon their knowledge of this historic period in Minnesota.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Participants gained new appreciation for the hard lives of all the various population groups living in/around the fort at the time. It appeared that participants gained a considerable amount of new knowledge at the conclusion of the tour, some of which may have changed attitudes toward various events and the ethnic groups that were involved.
