Costumed Interpreter, Laurie Johnson, portrayed Minnesota author Maud Hart Lovelace. She shared details of Lovelace's life and what life was like in Mankato in the late 1890's and early 1900's.

To learn about an Author from a different Historical era in Minnesota. What it was like to live and grow up in Mankato Minnesota during the 1890's – early 1900's.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Evaluations completed: 3 adults, 1 survey on behalf of 45 children. The question What did you learn from attending this program? was posed and the responses included: "Maud's life & times, first car in Mankato, pictures of her friends." "That Maud also wrote historical novels." The question What was enjoyed the most about the program? was asked and the responses included: "That she invited people up, dancing, her clothes, the feather cloud story, the 'car' story." "Chores." "Interaction sprinkled with information."
