Civil War Family Day @ Minnesota State Capitol
Children and adults alike learned, with Historical accuracy, Minnesota's role in the Civil War and how it affected life and families during that time.
Prior to the program, 1 child had visited Minnesota's State Capitol; after the program, 22 additional children had visited the Capitol. The children enjoyed seeing the clothing from the Civil War and all the different chambers in the Capitol. Adults enjoyed experiencing the proud heritage of Minnesota, the building itself and the tour of the building, and learning how much Minnesota was involved in the Civil War.
Minnesota History Center, Willmar Public Library, Minnesota State Capitol. Partner Organization Contribution/Role in the Program: Willmar History Center promoted events, provided tours and tour guides, costumes and food, and additional activities. Willmar Public Library provided admission funding and bus transportation for attendees. Minnesota State Capitol supplied space.
