The History and Music of the Accordion with Mario Cianflone
The intended outcome of the arts program is to allow patrons to enjoy original music and high-caliber performances while learning about other cultures. Encouraging them to reflect on the relation of their own upbringing to this music and exposing them to new forms of music, dance and library experiences. A survey was distributed to receive feedback from those attending the programs.
Surveys were distributed to participants at all programs. 92% strongly agreed that this was an enjoyable experience and 88% strongly agreed that they would attend a similar event. Comments: I liked the combination of music, history, and how the instrument works as well as the variety of music. It was amazing to hear all these different songs from his one small accordion. The whole program was wonderful especially the tango and the French dance. I learned about the structure of the reeds and their relationship of the chords.
16 libraries provided space, staff, and additional promotion for the programs and approximately 14 regional newspapers provided marketing through press releases, photos and interviews with artists and performers.
