Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Children will learn about petroglyphs, native games, how to throw a spear, make animal tracks out of plaster and hike up to the carvings.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Attendees were able to see up close what petroglyphs are. They were told the stories of what they meant and why/when they were done. Participants made plaster molds of different prairie animal tracks, learned about native American ways of moving (travois), children's games, and throwing a spear at a buffalo. They learned a lot about this chapter of Minnesota history.

Source of Additional Funds

Parents supplied sack lunches. MN Historical Society provided guides and leaders for the activities as well as materials about the petroglyphs.
