The Minnesota Authors William Kent Krueger, Carl Brookins and Ellen Hart, are costumed as criminals and complete an answer and question session about how they each approach the writing of their Mystery/Suspense novels.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Evaluations completed: 12. The patrons were asked "How would you rate the program?" With the rating scale of "Great, Very Good, Average, Below Average and Poor" as the options to use as answers. Great:8, Very Good:4. Of the twelve (12) evaluations completed, all patrons responded in a 100% positive answer. The patrons were also asked "Would you attend another program of this kind if it were offered?" Eleven (11) answers were given and of the responses included: Yes 11, Maybe 1, A 100% positive response. The question "What did you enjoy most about this program?" was asked, and the responses included: "Enjoying the passion of the authors for their craft, and their answers of individual questions." "Seeing actual authors in person." "Openness of the panel. Interaction between panel & audience." The question "What did you learn from attending this program?" was asked, and the responses included: "Process of writing – enjoyed learning of their lives & writing." "About more great authors!" "Yes – more about the publishing industry." "New authors." "Please let us know what you think about this program." was requested of the patrons. Answers included: "I'm very glad I went. . . and at my age, 82, I now realize I won't be embarking on a writing career!" "Will come again." "It was an enjoyable experience."

Source of Additional Funds

Pioneerland Library System and Willmar Area Arts Council, Friends of the Willmar Public Library Foundation, Willmar Public Library. Fairfax Public Library and the City of Fairfax. Partner Organization Contribution/Role in the Program: Willmar Public Library arranged and publicized the program and provided the outside space for the program. Willmar Area Arts Council and Friends of the Willmar Public Library Foundation promoted the event and each of the two (2) organizations contributed $200.00 to the program. Fairfax Public Library arranged and publicized the program with posters & bookmarks; the City of Fairfax provided the space for the program.
