Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra - Sounds of Science
The intended outcome of the arts program is to allow patrons to enjoy original music and high-caliber performances while learning about other cultures. Encouraging them to reflect on the relation of their own upbringing to this music and exposing them to new forms of music, dance and library experiences.
Surveys were distributed to participants at all programs. 100% agreed that this was an enjoyable experience and that they would attend a similar event. Participants liked how the ensemble made science and music fun with their explanation of the physics of sound. Participants learned about the physical shape of sound and vibrations. Once comment was that this program was "fascinating, outstanding, keep the music to you programs coming."
The following public libraries provided space, staff, and additional promotion for the programs: Babbitt, Cloquet, and Ely libraries and approximately 6 regional newspapers.
