Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra - Timeless Beauty of Harp and Flute
The intended outcome of the arts program is to allow patrons to enjoy original music and high-caliber performances while learning about other cultures. Encouraging them to reflect on the relation of their own upbringing to this music and exposing them to new forms of music, dance and library experiences.
Surveys were distributed to participants at all programs. Participants liked the insights into how and why the music was written, the chance to hear solo instrument and small ensemble music, and the opportunity to hear this music in a small personal venue. Participants learned about the physics of sound including vibrations, sound waves, and the instruments themselves. Participants also asked that we "keep programs like this available for they are enjoyable as well as educational."
The following public libraries provided space, staff, and additional promotion for the programs: Aurora (Essentia nursing home), Chisholm, Duluth (2 locations), Eveleth, Hibbing, and Silver Bay libraries and approximately 10 regional newspapers.
