The intended outcome of the arts program is to allow patrons to enjoy original music and high-caliber performances while learning about other cultures. Encouraging them to reflect on the relation of their own upbringing to this music and exposing them to new forms of music, dance and library experiences.
Surveys were distributed to participants at all programs. 94% strongly agreed that this was an enjoyable experience and 88% strongly agreed that they would attend a similar event. Participants liked how Briand "brought a new great appreciation of jazz to me!", enjoyed the music, his comments about the history of the music and the beauty of the instrument and the feelings that shown through is music. Participants learned not just about a style of music but several commented that they learned specific techniques and chord transitions that they were excited to try on their guitars. One particular comment that stood out was to "Keep the artists coming, please! It's the best way to expose our small town to what is out there."
The following public libraries provided space, staff, and additional promotion for the programs: Babbitt, Baudette, Bovey, Buhl, Cloquet, Duluth (2 locations), Gilbert, Grand Marais, Hoyt Lakes, International Falls, Silver Bay, wo Harbors, and Virginia libraries and approximately 14 regional newspapers.
