Steve Stark - Creating the History of the Red River Valley through Live Art
Participants and audience members will be exposed to the origins and significance of the original Lake Agassiz, the largest glacial lake in world history that was responsible for the formation of the Red River Valley of the North and the richness of the sediments and soil that were responsible for some of the most fertile farmland in world history. Audiences will see and hear the story of Swiss scientist Louis Agassiz, for whom the lake is named. Participants will learn about the development, naming, settlement and origin of the Moorhead and Fargo towns that were named and launched by the railroad to become influential in the creation of the great Bonanza Farms, the largest wheat farms in the world. This program, in its unique learning presentation format of hearing a historically dressed speaker tell as well as fast-draw in charcoal, the story on 20-foot rolls of paper, is creative, informative, accurate, entertaining and memorable.
