MSUM’s Poco Fuego Steel Drum Quintet lead by Kenyon Williams offered a series of children’s concerts featuring the rhythms and music of the tropics. Children and families will get to learn about the steel drum and how it is played as they experience this fun style of music. 6 performances took place around the LARL region over three days from June 10 to June 12, 2015

Those in attendance will hear the rhythms and music of the tropics, learn about the steel drum and how it is played, hear how instruments can be played in different styles.

Measurable Outcome(s)

Surveys were collected from attendees. The program was well attended and rated very highly. Attendees commented on enjoying the mixture of music and information provided. Great music and interesting history about the Caribbean and steel drum music.
