Project Overview
Newgrass Art-Rock. The Minneapolis-based band sounds like Bela Fleck meets Rush, goes out to breakfast with John Coltrane, and gets home in time to go golfing with Jeff Beck. They fuse a mixture of jazz, classical, bluegrass, art-rock, Indian ragas and their own original stylings to create a unique genre. Three performances over two days in the LARL region from October 3 to October 4, 2013.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The attendees will experience an arts presentation that includes exposure to multiple genres of music. These will include but aren't limited to Blue Grass; Jazz; Blues, Art Rock and World. The audience will be given a brief description of the origin of each piece as it is presented thereby deepening their understanding of how music is created and the creative process for The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra. The attendees will leave the event with a greater understanding and appreciation for the various styles presented and the process for creating not only the music they heard, but all music.

Measurable Outcome(s)

A sample of survey results asking "What did you like best about the program" are: The music I had not heard from India mixed with American; Talent of the musicians; the variety of music.
