Project Overview
This program teaches the history of Irish people in the Red River Valley and how they intermingled with French fur trappers creating a society with unique names and music. Two presentations took place on February 28, 2014 at the Crookston Library and the Fertile Library.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Those in attendance will learn about the heritage and musical traditions of both Irish and local, Red River Valley musical traditions of the early settlers; experience hearing ancient music and songs that have been part of our heritage in the Red River Valley for three to four hundred years; learn how many of the surnames of the people living today in our own communities tie into historical pioneer personalities and lineages; and learn about the Irish connection and their descendants in the settlement of the Red River Valley.

Measurable Outcome(s)

A sample of survey results asking "what did you like best about the program" are: Singing and tell of the background of the songs; history and music; Entertaining and informative.
