Project Overview
Integrating three life principles of SUPPORT (to build community), STEPPING OUT (to develop individual creativity), and SHARING (to foster cooperation) into the musical experience made this Community Drum a memorable experience. This program encouraged people of all ages to come together and share the universal language of music. 8 performances took places across the LARL region over 3 days from September 8 to September 10, 2014. Please note, this program was partially funding by LARL FY14 Legacy funding and partially funded by LARL FY15 Legacy funding.

Participants will learn about a variety of hand drums and percussion instruments; play percussion instruments and make music together; learn how to support each other by taking breaks together in the music; learn call and response using vocals; have fun sharing music as a community.
Measurable Outcome(s)
Attendees filled out evaluation forms. The program was very highly rated. Comments included the fact that attendees liked: the participation of the whole group, the interaction, getting to play the instruments and learning about percussion instruments.
