Project Overview

Performance artist Peter Bloedel of Mankato presented his Perpetual Vaudeville show of music, juggling, magic, jokes, and physical comedy at four libraries in Brown County. Bloedel shared not only his performance art but stories about how he developed his writing and performing craft, and he encouraged children to think big and think in different ways.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Written surveys will be distributed to all attendees at each of the programs. It is expected that a
majority of respondents will:
?express excitement about watching Peter Bloedel's performance art program.
?indicate they learned something about Bloedel's journey as a creator and performer.
?be interested in checking out library materials about magic, juggling, performing, telling jokes, etc.
?indicate they will share a positive review of the program with others.

In addition, library staff will observe a majority of attendees actively engaged in the program by listening attentively and participating when asked. Anecdotal responses from attendees will confirm their enjoyment of the program.

Measurable Outcome(s)

?In combining the survey results of all four performances, 93 percent of respondents indicated they had fun at the program. When asked their favorite part of the program, some responses included Everything. The corny jokes and Helping out.
?In combining the survey results of all four performances, 86 percent of respondents indicated they learned something about how Bloedel became a performer.
?In combining the survey results of all four performances, 61 percent of respondents indicated they wanted to check out library books on magic, juggling, performing, or telling jokes.
?In combining the survey results of all four performances, 88 percent of respondents indicated they would tell people they liked the program.

Library staff at all four locations were enthusiastic about Bloedel's performance, noting that he was high energy, provided an interactive performance, and kept audience members engaged. Anecdotal responses from survey respondents included Pete was a blast. Fun for all ages of kids! Thanks for funding this program so it was possible. and He was funny & entertaining.
