Bob Kann, Storyteller and Magician
Bob will present, The ABCs and Abracadabras of Architecture, using our 2017 summer reading theme of Build a Better World. Using magic, juggling and storytelling, Bob will introduce children to the basic principles of architecture...what is architecture? What are architects? What do a mile-high skyscraper, dog house, museum resembling an ice cream cone and a thousand different fireplaces have in common?
Based on his children's book and a program he developed on Frank Lloyd Wright with Taliesin Inc., Bob makes architecture come alive in this highly interactive program for children ages 5 and up.
Bob is a former professor of philosophy at the University of Wisconsin at Madison and written several books for children.
200 participated
The audience will enjoy the professional and interactive presentation by Bob. With a variety of performing arts, he will encourage and inspire the young participants to explore the fascinating world of architecture within their own world and inspire reading as a life-long habit that will serve them well in the years ahead. The audience will be informally surveyed by observation and post-program anecdotal responses.
Participants were presented with basic architecture principals and applications that affect our every-day lives as well as practical, hands on demonstrations and interactive exercises that allowed the attendees to see first-hand, the physics and historical applications in our buildings and other structures.
