Music on Main
Music on Main (MoM) provides free music, performed by Minnesota musicians, in downtown Gaylord. The mission of Music on Main is to bring our community together through music. We hope to promote Minnesota artists and expose young people to a variety of music and instill in them an appreciation for music. Music on Main had 14 performances this summer they were Dennis Warner, Carver Creek, Duke Zecco, Boomerang, Allen & Matt Carlson, Concord Singers, Meoldeares, The Frye, Mary Guentzel Quintet, Church of Cash, Ann & Charlie Heyman, Off Duty Eggs, Slater Brothers, and Riverblenders. At each event we organized a food vender to be present. We also coincided with the local Farmers Market to be held at the same time.
1562 participated
We did a survey once a month, the results are attached. Members of the MoM committee also spoke with people throughout the performances. We were given much feedback about performers on which ones they liked and didn't like. This will help the committee in choosing performers for next year. At every event we saw new attendees that we had not seen at prier events.
We were able to hold events outside this year which was nice. There were a few times that the some of the attendees were having such a good time some got up and dance. One event we had children dance also. A couple of the performers went into the crowd and sang with people, and got the crowd involved. One performer, Off Duty Egg (who is chief of police in Detroit Lakes) did an impromptu song about the police officer who was driving through the grocery store parking lot at the time, which everybody loved, he received a big round of applause for that one.
