WGZS - Native America Did You Know
A brief look at historical information…things that may surprise you about Native Americans in Minnesota as well as taking a deeper look at the culture and history of the Fond du Lac community. The series will look at things like hunting, fishing and gathering treaties, the incredibly high rate of Native Americans serving in our armed forces and more. The project will include a series of 20 two-minute segments that will air on WGZS and will be archived online.
$1,600,000 each year is appropriated for a grant to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.19.
Native American Did You Know will help to interweave Native American culture and history into more facets of Native and non-Native communitiesMinnesotans of all ages, ethnicities and incomes will have more access to information about the history of the Fond du Lac communityWGZS will provide an estimated number of listeners reached through radio broadcasts, estimated number of people reached through the internet and social media as well as the number of stations that aired the segments
