WGZS - The Legacy of Jim Northrup
From his boarding school experience as a youth to his military career, as well as the traditions he helped to preserve by teaching others, this project will recall Jim Northrup’s life and the impact he had not only here in Minnesota but nation and even worldwide. WGZS will create a half-hour documentary about Jim Northrup’s life that will broadcast on air and be archived online.
$1,600,000 each year is appropriated for a grant to the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations for production and acquisition grants in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 129D.19.
This project will help to increase locally focused content on WGZSThe project will increase knowledge and awareness of the way that history affected people's lives so they can make informed decisions in the futureMinnesotans of all ages, ethnicities and incomes will have more access to our Native American history and cultureWGZS will provide an estimated number of listeners reached through radio broadcasts, estimated number of people reached through the internet and social media as well as the number of stations that aired the segments
