A Southeast Musical Heritage: Cataloging Chatfield Brass Band Music Lending Library
Working with the Chatfield Brass Band and Music Lending Library (CBBMLL), Southeastern Libraries Cooperating (SELCO) assisted with sorting donated sheet music which has not yet been incorporated into the CBBMLL collection and the SELCO online bibliographic database. Project staff performed original cataloging based on criteria established for the FY 2008-2009 LSTA Community Libraries as Online Partners project. SELCO provided a $49,000.00 sub-grant to implement the cataloging process.

• CBBMLL is the owner of the collection that was sorted and cataloged.

• 19 boxes of sheet music were sorted during this project.
• 1,771 new music titles were added to the CBBMLL collection and to the SELCO ILS.

Talking with the Chatfield Brass Band and Music Lending Library (CBBMLL) staff, they continue to receive compliments from their current patrons who are pleased that more music is being made available for loan. Additionally, new patrons to the CBBMLL comment that they were happy to finally find the Library online and have been able to request needed sheet music easily.
