Art & Culture Live!: Community Collaborations - Friday Night Food Films: Fresh the Movie
Friday Night Food Films: Fresh the Movie was designed by the Houston Community Garden (Houston, MN) to educate people about current issues around food supply and to encourage them to begin talking about their food choices and marking changes where appropriate. This grant helped supply a library copy of Fresh: the Movie and public viewing rights for one performance.
Event Dates and Locations:
June 11, 2010 – Public showing of Fresh (Houston, MN)
Partner Organization(s): Houston Nature Center and Houston Public Library
Partner Organization(s) Contribution/Role in the Program: The Nature Center provided the facilities for the showing of the film. The Library assisted in the purchase of public viewing rights and agreed to maintain a copy of the film in their collection.
Program Outputs: Outputs are things you can count such as attendance, number of new participants, and the number of attendees who had never been at a similar event, and so on.
13 people attended the viewing of Fresh. A copy of the film was added to the Library and thus available to the entire SELCO region, as well as MnLINK through interlibrary loan.
Measurable Outcomes may be collected by survey, anecdotal responses, post-test; End user change in Behavior, Attitude, Skills, Knowledge, Condition and/or Status
A discussion developed after the showing of the film that lasted longer than the film itself (70 min.). The Garden also made a connection with individuals from Lanesboro Local and plans to set up additional classes of interest.
