Art & Culture Live!: Community Collaborations - Building Community Connections through Collaboration
Building Community Connections through Collaboration gave students of the local high school the opportunity to design an architectural layout for the Kasson Public Library (Kasson, MN) using an existing, vacant building. Students were given a list of needs and advised to visit area libraries to observe how library space is utilizes. The designs were reviewed by the Library Director and the two student designs judged best suited received stipends.

May 28, 2010 – Appreciation awards given to students at the Kasson-Mantorville High School (Kasson, MN)
September 2010 – Designs displayed around the Kasson-Mantorville School District (Kasson, MN and Mantorville, MN)
Partner Organization(s): Friends of the [Kasson Public] Library and Kasson-Mantorville High School
Partner Organization(s) Contribution/Role in the Program: The High School devoted class time to their architectural design class and had two field trips to the Library. The Friends provided funding to the technology department of the school for materials, supplies, and equipment.
Program Outputs: Outputs are things you can count such as attendance, number of new participants, and the number of attendees who had never been at a similar event, and so on: 3 designs were submitted to the Library of the 5 students who took the class.
Measurable Outcomes may be collected by survey, anecdotal responses, post-test; End user change in Behavior, Attitude, Skills, Knowledge, Condition and/or Status
The students in the class gained understanding in the functionality of library spaces as reflected in modifications made to their designs over time
