Art & Culture Live!: Community Collaborations - Author Visit and Poetry Workshop with Joyce Sidman
Brought acclaimed poet and author Author Visit and Poetry Workshop with Joyce Sidman Sidman to the Buckham Memorial Library (Faribault, MN). There she gave an interactive talk to all ages on her inspiration and how a book is developed. Following the talk, a workshop for children and young adults lead them in exploring their own poetry.

The combination of the two programs brought in 41 people to the library. Following the program, only one of Sidman’s books remained on the shelves.

A surge of interest in poetry material after the program led to 22 of the 60 poetry books on display to promptly be checked out. 17 of the 20 participants in the first program voluntarily contributed to an oral poem. Responses to the program inquired if the program would be available again and even, “I don’t like poetry but it was okay.”
