Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

To have participants recognize the library is a place to experience quality programming.
Increase participants' knowledge of different arts and cultural heritage topics/programs.
Expose library patrons to arts, performances, events they may not otherwise have the opportunity to experience in their community.

Evaluations were done using surveys, focus groups, and/or interviews.

Measurable Outcome(s)

This was a message on facebook after I posted pictures of the program: "They say a picture is worth a thousand words.........this photo might just be worth over a thousand. Thanks to all that voted for this amendment in 2008.....it has brought so many programs to LeRoy." signed, Jerry Utz

All of the children really enjoyed the performance. The staff loves how he weaves books into the magic tricks and encourages summer reading. It is a great end of the year fire up for getting books into kids' hands.
"That was great!" (Riley-- who got to be "Captain Underpants" -see photos)
"My favorite part was when he changed the flag many times-- how did he do that?"
"I liked all of it!"
The kids came out of the room very excited. Thanks so much for providing great programming in this grant opportunity.

What did (participant) like best about this program?
4 respondents said interaction with kids; 2 said community involvement; 2 said everything; 1 said the wand activity

At the end of the show I questioned a few children, ages 6 to 11, if they would like to learn more about some of the topics covered in the performance. Some of the children stated they didn't want to learn more about anything. They just enjoyed watching the show. Other responses included learning about Greece, the Olympics, magic, and the most popular answer, which surprised me, was that they overwhelmingly wanted to learn more about oragami.

Wonderful program!! I recommend this program to all schools especially during the month of March for Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America Day. The students were engaged and the program was loved by all. I thought the older classmates would not enjoy as much, but the performers got them involved too and they loved it, I think, more than the younger students.
