-Tom stopped in the following day to thank us for hosting Doug's program. He said, "I would have loved to have shared some of my stories with the group." He then told the story of attending the dedication of the Bronson Dam. Tom requested further books on the WPA.
-Brad said the program was "Unmissable" and told others they should have attended because they missed a good program. He liked the information given about the local WPA building and asked for more information about it.
-Diane's father was in the Civilian Conservation Corps so she made an extra effort to attend. After the program she asked the speaker how to find out more about her father's experience. He told her where to look and encouraged her to do so.
-Roger noted that the program showed that these were government managed programs that involved actual work, not handouts.
-Ken appreciated seeing photos of the projects. He said that the buildings built during the Depression were not only beautiful, but also extremely strong. That is why so many are still standing.
-All said they would attend another library program and suggested the topics of Pets and the Four Corner County Fair.
One younger patron wrote "It was perfect except for that part where you said that your kid might try not to listen to you when you read them a story. I never even squirm!"
We really appreciate the chance the Winter Author Tour offers us to provide such a great program to our patrons in this small rural environment, even though we know in advance that our numbers will not be impressive. It is all about equality of opportunity, in my opinion! So thanks again.
"Doug's presentation reminded me of times and things in my past which have been forgotten and many new things were learned today."
“I loved the fact that each photo had a story that went with it, which gave it a deeper dimension.”
Well presented -The stories - information -photos & narrative - Pictures, information/history of parks -
I enjoyed learning about State Parks that I haven't been to over the years. -
I love to take rides & state parks would be a good destination -
The imagery & detailed stories he is dynamic and engaging speaker who clearly loves the MN State Parks - he's the perfect speaker for this subject -
