Community Collaborations: Our Stories, Our Community
The Rochester Public Library (RPL) is submitting a SELCO Community Collaboration Grant Application to request funds to work in conjunction with the History Center of Olmsted County to develop an oral history program to collect, document and archive the stories of our community – both past and present. We will be building the infrastructure to facilitate the ongoing creation, recording, storage, and documentation of oral histories for our community. Through Our Stories, Our Community, the partnership will ensure that under-represented residents of Olmsted County have their stories included by recording and transcribing 10-12 targeted stories. Middle School students, from Rochester Central Lutheran School, will also be engaged to create, listen and react to the oral histories.
