Project Overview
Common and glossy buckthorn are non-native, invasive small trees that aggressively overtake the forest understory to the detriment of other plants and wildlife. The purpose of this project is to eradicate light infestations of buckthorn on at least 90 acres of state wildlife management areas in Isanti and Washington Counties, preventing dense infestations from occurring. Our primary method will be to cut each tree and treat the stump with herbicide. Secondarily, we may use basal bark spraying.
