Project Overview
The Shell Rock River Watershed District proposes acquiring fee title to 5.3 acres of land that encompasses the headwaters of the Shell Rock River to provide accelerated fish and wildlife habitat restoration, water quality, flood control and recreation opportunities. The Watershed District will restore, protect, and enhance habitat and opportunities for native habitat restoration by implementing restoration practices previously completed on successful habitat restoration projects within the Watershed District that include: in-stream habitat restoration, wetland creation and restoration, native prairie establishment, and shore land habitat restoration. All restored habitats will be created using Minnesota native grass and wildflower seed mixes, providing suitable conditions for upland game birds, pollinators, and wildlife.
