Project Overview
American Woodcock are a species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN). USFWS Best Management Practices call for the mowing or maintenance of short vegetation in scattered areas for birds to safely roost. This project would mow vegetation in selected fields to provide those safe roosting areas in the Cass, Koochiching and Itasca County areas on public lands where administrators do not have the time or money to accomplish this work. Sites are selected for their proximity to good brood-rearing, nesting and foraging habitat.
