Project Overview
Many small to moderate sized wetlands end up being completely covered by dense/invasive cattails making them unusable by migrating waterfowl and shorebirds. Open water seasonal wetlands are often laden with invertebrates, the nutritional food waterfowl need to refuel after a long migration and for egg shell strength. Wild rice is an additional food vitally important to waterfowl during fall migration and provides valuable cover for refuge and protection.
