Project Overview
Purchase of 4-Forty acre parcels of land. All parcels are adjacent to Muckey Creek, a trout stream. Also on these parcels is an access trail that allows access to hundreds of acres of public lands. Having this parcel in public ownership will guarantee public access to public lands, promote improved water quality for Muckey Creek and it's tributaries and reduce nutrient loading that land conversion would promote. Muckey Creek drains into the Crow Wing River watershed. The Crow Wing River watershed is a high nutrient load watershed and by protecting tributaries from further land conversion will reduce the amount of chemicals entering this watershed.
